Robbie Page Memorial Fund

Sigma Sigma Sigma centers its philanthropic efforts around the theme “Sigma Serves Children,” specifically through the Robbie Page Memorial. Established following the 1951 death of a son of the Sorority’s National President, Mary Hastings Holloway Page, the RPM supported various polio research projects including the Salk vaccine trials.

Long range programming to develop and support play therapy for hospitalized children began at North Carolina Memorial Hospital once a cure for polio was discovered. By focusing on the emotional and developmental needs of hospitalized children, funds raised by collegiate and alumnae chapters were used not only to establish playrooms, but also to create a specialized field of study for professionals in child development and associated health care professions.

Sigmas take satisfaction in knowing that the leadership of their funded projects for children have helped people realize the value of recreational therapy for hospitalized children. Current national efforts are centered on supporting the play therapy programs at the University of North Carolina Hospitals, Chapel Hill, and Children’s Medical Center in Dallas,Texas.

Robbie Page Memorial Grants have been awarded to these institutions focusing not only on funding the renovations and materials for hospital playrooms, but also funding graduate assistantships at the University of North Carolina in Recreational Therapy and fellowships at Children’s Medical Center.

For outstanding support of Child Life and Play Therapy programs, the National Therapeutic Recreation Society has recognized Sigma Sigma Sigma, since contributions from the Sorority have benefited thousands of children.

Be Beautiful Campaign

In the coming year, Sigma hopes to work in accordance with Doves Self-Esteem Be Beautiful Campaign to educate and inspire all young people on a wider definition of beauty. We plan to put on a workshop to help high school girls have a better understanding of what being beautiful is. This will be in accordance with a big sister mentor program, as well as increased, campus-wide efforts to promote a truer definition of beautiful. Our mission is to educate women on important and relatable topics and to engage in conversations and discussions about our experiences as college women. We also aim to provide events, activities, and speakers promoting self- confidence and encouraging women to be beautiful in their life actions and decisions. Our hope is that by promoting inner beauty, women will be more aware of the negative stereotypes and hypocrisies in the media and rise above that stigma and be proud of who they are as a personbeautiful inside and out! For more information please email

The Sigma Sigma Sigma Foundation is two-fold: to invest in life-enhancing childrens therapy programs and to fund innovative leadership training for women. The Delta Beta chapter of Tri Sigma has been working to increase its efforts to focus on the second half of our mission: to ensure a perpetual bond of friendship, develop strong womanly character, and to promote high standards of conduct. We want to reach beyond our chapter to promote educational and leadership skills of women to meet the demands of contemporary society.

Be it size six models or movie stars with exceptional curves, beauty pressures are everywhere, and too many girls develop low self-esteem from hang-ups about their looks. This is an issue that affects all people, regardless of age or ethnicity, and it can lead to introversion, a withdrawal from normal life and a waste of potential.
